A Surprise Proposal While Blueberry Picking in Maine | Maine Proposal Photographer

There are so many beautiful places to propose in Maine, but my favorite proposals are the ones that feel completely personal to the couple. This blueberry picking proposal in Gorham, Maine was exactly that.

Denver and Emmy were visiting Maine from Pennsylvania, a trip they were especially excited about because they both love Maine. And because she really loves blueberries, he came up with the perfect way to make their proposal part of something she already loved.

Instead of choosing a beach or coastal location, Denver planned a blueberry picking outing and arranged for me to photograph the surprise from a distance. She had no idea what was coming!

As a Maine proposal photographer, I absolutely love getting to photograph surprises like this. There's something especially fun about being part of the secret planning, finding a way to blend into the background (especially hard for this day, since it was pretty much just me and the sheep and cows!!), and waiting for that exact moment when everything changes.

And then... he proposed!

The blueberry field made such a fun and unexpected setting for their proposal. We had the rows of blueberry bushes, the summer sunshine, and plenty of space for the two of them to celebrate after. It was romantic and sweet and beautiful, even despite the intense heat that day.

That's one of my favorite things about proposal photography in Maine. Your proposal doesn't have to happen at one of the places you've seen a thousand times on Instagram. A favorite hiking trail, a family vacation spot, a favorite restaurant, a beach, a cabin, or even a blueberry field can be the perfect place if it has meaning to you.
